Tramping!

They call it "tramping", I call it "hiking". Whatever you call it, I've done a lot of it lately. The the last two and a half weeks I've walked the Kepler Track (60km), some of the Hollyford Track(40km), and the Routeburn Track (32km). Regarding my goal of spending 30 nights in the wilderness, I have 15 left to go. I hope to post a bunch of pictures up really soon.

PHOTO: Lake Te Anau at dusk from way above the treeline.

PHOTO: Lake Manapouri, we spent the night here.

PHOTO: This rocks!

PHOTO: The river on the Kepler Track.

PHOTO: It's just a fern. Hey, you wanted more pictures, you got em!

PHOTO: Lake Mackenzie was a really cool lake. I jumped in it at dawn with my German friends pictured here. It was freezing!

PHOTO: We uh... sort of got in a little trouble with the law.

PHOTO: Earland Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls I've ever seen and I've seen more than my fair share.

Tramping? Sounds like that desperate solution we'd try to employ at the end of a party in college when we hadn't met any attractive and virtuous young ladies. Woohoo! "Lake Te Anau": Is that where Boromir died? Why isn't Mordor on the Bluff signpost? I thought it was nearby. Please tell Aragorn "Hello" from St. Louis!

Thanks for posting more stories/pics. Of course, you had to start just as I got overwhelmed at work and managed to simultaneously ruin the registry on my PC at home. (I haven't reformatted the HD yet.) So my time and opportunity to read and respond has been quite limited. Woe is me!

I'm in a committee meeting right now. Well, I have it on speakerphone anyway. This is our first meeting. Can you believe they set aside 90 minutes for people to introduce themselves? It took us 20. We're off to a rolicking start!

Looks like I'm going to get another promotion here. Yippee! Must be my effective use of the "hand's free" and "mute" functions of my speakerphone. I threatened to switch jobs and had a promotion offer literally the next day. I'm feeling loved.

Mar(ge)a is back in school working toward her Master's in Health Administration. She started before Mr. Binx came along and had to stop. Now that he's grown from Mr. Binx to Handsome, she's back in class and loving it. (bit of sarcasm there) It's hard to take a chock-full schedule and jam in another 10 hours of time requirement per week. But she's doing it.

Speaking of Handsome- he's awesome. In fact, that might be his next name. I wish you could be home for Christmas to play with him. His favorite game right now is Tackle Fumble. Basically, I grab him and roll all over the floor while flipping him around, making sure his head hits the floor with a dull thud periodically, and all the while yelling "TACKLE FUMBLE!!" He loves it. I think he's a little Wild Man of Borneo in training. Hee hee!

Keep soaking up NZ. I'll look forward to hearing what took place with police helicopters and lots of other stories when you get back. In the meantime, don't lick any toads.

Love ya' Bro.
